“Parenting, Children and Play Therapy” - POSTPONED till later this year
         Tuesday, April 9, 2013,  9:15-10:15 a.m. CST     Register Now
Description:  All therapy with children requires a coordination of individual and family
therapy.  This webinar will address parenting issues as they relate to child therapy.
Understanding children, encouraging them to communicate, and helping them grow to
be effective adults is largely dependent on how parents parent.
            Learning objectives
  1. Participants will be introduced to a theory of parenting.
  2. Participants will hear a technique that has proven to be successful with
    thousands of kids.
  3. Participants will be able to create a better understanding of parenting and its
    relationship to their clients.
This webinar is not only for parents but also for clinicians who have not considered the
impact that parenting has on their clinical work.  Furthermore, it will challenge those who
already have a parenting approach to compare, contrast, and discuss the efficacy of their
    approaches.

“School, Homework, Children and Play Therapy – Are they related?”
         Tuesday, May 7, 2013,  9:15-10:15 a.m. CST     Register Now
Description:  This webinar will address the relationship between school and home.
Often schools “overtake” the home.  That is, behavior at school is drawn into parenting at
home.  Homework drags into the enjoyment of a family.  This webinar will address
issues of boundaries between school and home.  Discussion on how this is “brought”
into the play room will be provided.  Play Therapy can be used by clinicians to help set
limits.  The use of Play, Play Therapy and toys will be discussed in terms of school,
    home and boundaries.
    Learning objectives:
    Participants will
  1. Be able to understand the boundaries between school and home.
  2. Be able to see examples of how to implement boundary setting in order to have a
more successful home environment, specifically as it relates to homework.
  3. Be able to better work with their clients through simple techniques of managing
    homework.
  4. Analyze the above as it applies to the Play Therapy room.
  5. Discuss the use of toys and Play Therapy as related to homework.

“An Allowance is not a Bribe:  How it applies to Children and Play Therapy”
         Tuesday, June 11, 2013,  9:15-10:15 a.m. CST       Register Now
Description:  This webinar addresses the use of money, allowance, bribing, fiscal
responsibility, etc. with children.  In order to help a child succeed, money cannot be used

    because I love you” system.
    Learning objectives:
  1. Participants will be able to understand the theory behind “allowance”.
  2. Participants will be able to learn techniques that children and parents can use in
order to succeed in learning financial responsibilities.
  3. Participants will be able to apply the theory and the technique to their clients.
  4. Participants will see how this is “played” out in the play therapy room.

Past topics
now available online:

“Food, ‘Playing House’, Popcorn Walk, What is Nurturing in Play Therapy?”
Description:  This webinar discusses techniques on how to nurture children in the play
room. The use of food, “playing house”, and taking a Popcorn Walk are some of the
    techniques that will be discussed.

“The 10 Second Commercial, Silence and Soft Moments —New Techniques in Play Therapy”
Description:  This webinar discusses techniques on how to interact with a child.  The
relationship is a critical component in the progress of children expressing their inner-
most thoughts and feelings.  Soft moments, 10 second commercials, silence and other
    techniques will be demonstrated.

"Mad, Sad, Glad - Play Therapy and Countertransference"
Description:   This webinar discusses the feelings that many children have and their
impact on the therapist.  Often we complicate children’s feelings by talking too much,
ignoring non-verbal “feelings” or assigning tasks to express them.  We will talk about
    “relaxing” with feelings of children.

"Play Therapy Techniques Using the Ball and the Phone"
Description:  This webinar talks about using the Ball and the Phone to connect with
children who are oppositional, shy, or distant in a playroom.  For many children,
interacting is very uncomfortable; speaking is very uncomfortable.  The use of toys and
the use of a playroom in play therapy make it much more tolerable and manageable for a
child to communicate, and therefore, can help a child express some of these feelings.
The webinar explains different ways to use the toys, the ball and the phone, in order to
    talk with the child.

"The Doll House in Play Therapy"
Description:   This webinar discusses how the doll house “works” in a play room.  For
many children playing in a doll house helps them express their innermost feelings,
conflicts, struggles, and challenges.  This webinar will analyze the play so one can
intervene, interact, interpret with a child.
